Hygod Update #2

Yup – here’s another update for Hygod!

From a new spawn to ender chests, there are a lot of changes that directly impact players. The server is always a work in-progress, so expect more updates in the future. We also want to ensure that nothing breaks in official Hytale updates (lol).

I know it’s a lot. Don’t wanna read all of that?

Here’s the breakdown:

New spawn was built for Heaven (work in-progress).
Reconnecting now spawns you at your last location.
Added /bed to teleport you to your claimed bed(s).
- If you have multiple beds, teleport to closest one.
Added ender chests to safely store items.
- Requires first rank to use (1 hour of playtime).
- Access to /ec & /enderchest commands.
Fixed various issues + active development.

New Heaven Spawn

It’s definitely a work in-progress, but we wanted to have a fitting place for God to call home. Introducing the brand new spawn for Hygod, Heaven! Don’t worry, we didn’t remove the church.

The new spawn is larger and offers more areas to socialize. We have plans to make it more glorious and truly feel like Heaven. Oh! We also want to add parkour at some point too.

This isn’t a complete build. God is working together with others to make it a masterpiece. In the meantime, enjoy this new spawn for our Hytale server.

Spawning Mechanic

We removed a spawn management plugin, as it wasn’t ideal for our setup. Instead, we’re only using the default spawning mechanics of Hytale. The /spawn command is still enabled.

This basically means that each time you log off and reconnect, you will spawn at your last known location. Before, players were forced to always return to Heaven.

God didn’t approve of that, so it was changed.

New Bed Command

Introducing the /bed command, using default game features.

If you have a claimed bed in Earth, use the bed command to immediately teleport to it. Keep in mind that in Hytale, it will transport you to the closest bed (if you have multiple).

Whenever your bed gets destroyed, you can no longer return to it. This isn’t a traditional home command. This means you need to protect your bed and not let others grief it.

Ender Chests

After thinking on it, God decided to include ender chests in the server. It’s a must-have, especially since many players come from Minecraft where it’s a default feature for storing important items.

However, this is an experimental mechanic we’re introducing to the server. It’s entirely possible that bugs may result in items being lost. Use at your own risk!

Okay, so how do you use it?

After playing for an hour (and claiming a rank), you will receive the /ec or /enderchest command. You’ll also get an in-game ender chest to place down at your base.

Each rank will increase the amount of item slots in your ender chest. The more you play, the more rows you get to use.

Fixed Issues

Primarily focused around permissions, God failed to catch missing nodes in LuckPerms. How can that happen? Don’t ask me, I just write these blogs. Who’s me? Don’t worry about it.

Besides that, just minor bugs that were overlooked before. One of them was the fact that the flamethrower was easily accessible via playtime rewards. This caused mayhem.

Now that’s been moved to the Holy rank. Only dedicated players can get this special weapon of mass destruction.

On-going Work

In addition to the new spawn being a work-in progress, there’s another one: random spawning when entering the Earth portal from Heaven. As it stands, you always spawn at the same location.

Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, but with Hygod – it is.

If implemented properly, players would enter the portal and be randomly teleported to Earth within a 150 block radius. This will help prevent players from being trapped, stuck, or worse.

Another WIP is the playtime ranks and one-time kits. God is still trying to determine what items are best for each playtime reward. The rank names themselves too are also being looked at (Holy is staying forever though, duh).

Hygod Development

God is always working towards making Hygod the best vanilla+ server in Hytale. He’s only wanting to focus on quality-of-life improvements, not major changes to the gameplay.

Even though we have a new spawn, that isn’t the finished product. There are plans to make God’s Kingdom truly shine in Heaven… while also having Satan’s domain known as Hell below.

Besides all that, performance optimizations, command aliases, maybe new features, but we’ll see what the future has in store for Hygod.
